Originally from Freedom, Pennsylvania, (a suburb of Pittsburgh), Morell, 45, moved to Florida in 1972. He began his practice in West Palm Beach with the law firm of Hamilton, James, Merkel and Young in 1983. He started his own practice in 1990. Tim and his wife, Colleen, were married in 1991. They have two children ages 5 and 7.
During Mr. Morell's 19 years of civil practice, he worked on substantial commercial litigation matters; helped victims of privacy invasion and identity theft; and, established and preserved the rights of local family farms under Florida's Right to Farm Act. Mr. Morell has appeared in criminal courts on matters relating to protecting victim's rights and recovering restitution. In 1988, he helped begin the Florida Bar's Computer Law Mediation Project and was certified by The Florida Bar as a Computer Law Mediator. In 1993, The American Arbitration Association named him as a commercial law arbitrator. For 12 years, he volunteered and served as a Guardian ad Litem in cases of child abuse and neglect.
Mr. Morell has also handled high profile cases such as Florida's first trial regarding ownership of Lotto proceeds and ownership and protection of a sunken treasure and archeological site near the Jupiter Inlet. He has successfully resolved under confidentiality agreements, substantial matters concerning sexual harassment, sexual assaults at schools and unlawfully obtained private records.
Tim Morell, a Harvey T. Reid academic and leadership
scholar at
the University of Miami School of Law, graduated cum laude with a Juris
Doctorate in 1983. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Philosophy
from Lake Forest College, Lake Forest, Illinois and graduated in the top three
percent of his class. He served an Internship for the Chicago Crime Commission
and was a law clerk for Cypen & Cypen, PA, Miami Beach.
Tim has been admitted to The Florida Bar and United States District Court,
Southern and Middle Districts of Florida. Mr. Morell serves as Vice-Chair of the
Computer Law Committee of The Florida Bar and is its Privacy Law Chairperson.
His other professional memberships include: Palm Beach County
Bar Association, Florida Bar Speakers Bureau; Association of Internet
Professionals; American Arbitration Association; ICANN, (Internet Corporation
for Assigned Names and Numbers), At Large Member; and the Computer Law
Association.
Tim was made an Honorary Member of the National Association of Private
Investigators and is a member of Leadership of Palm Beach County. He
is Area Governor of Toastmasters International.
